Virtual Recruitment Services During Campus Disruptions
Career Services and our Employer Relations team is currently working remotely from March 16, 2020 until further notice and our physical service locations are currently closed.
Although our campus is currently operating online, the Office of Employer Relations is here to help you meet your recruiting needs! Join us weekly for our virtual office hours, and Tune In to Recruit at USF!
Our team has a variety of options designed to assist you with your hiring needs and recruiting events, which are highlighted below. For questions you may have that are not covered in the sections below, please visit the Contact Us section for information on how to get in touch with our team.
We also encourage you to visit the University of South Florida Coronavirus (COVID-19) website for official updates, frequently asked questions, and additional resources from USF.
We look forward to working with you and hope you stay safe and healthy during this time!
Virtual Recruitment Services & Resources
As noted above we’re asking Employers to follow the appropriate guidelines for staying safe from COVID-19 if hosting interns or part-time employees in the summer of 2020, and we are here to assist you along the way!
Please review our Working Remotely Toolkit which offers ideas, suggestions, and resources to aid you in supporting virtual internships or virtual part-time student employment.
We are also available to consult and assist you if supporting virtual internships or workers is a new experience. Please feel free to reach out to a member of our team:
For Internships: sacsInternships@usf.edu
For Part-Time Employment: sacsStudentEmployment@usf.edu.
Although some colleges have elected to suspend their internship courses this summer, our internship course (IDS 3947) is still available for students. Our internship course supports students as they build their career readiness competencies and is aligned with NACE standards (National Association of Colleges and Employers).
USF is excited to announce a new opportunity for our corporate partners to offer short-term, professional, paid work experiences to current students through Micro-Internships. Micro-Internships allow students to demonstrate their skills, explore career paths, and develop their professional networks. Unlike a traditional internship, these paid opportunities typically range from 5 to 40 hours of work, and many can be completed remotely. Not only does this help the students, but it allows employers to get immediate support and enhance your company’s pipeline for future interns and new hires.

At USF, building your employer brand and recruiting is easy to do because we’ve made this a key part of our services for employers. Create a Handshake account and:
- Post internships, part-time jobs, and full-time jobs
- Review student and alumni applications
- Schedule interview and recruiting events
- Gain exclusive access to communications from the USF Employer Relations team
Create or access your free Handshake account here: https://usf.joinhandshake.com/.
For assistance with creating your account and best practices in recruiting through Handshake, please read our Employer Handshake Guide.
All requests for account updates and new account creations will be handled as quickly as possible, but will be dependent upon the events of the disruption and staff access to technology. We ask you to please bear with us in the case of a delay in approving your account. Please monitor the "Comments" section on your approval request as we may communicate the need for any additional information there.
Virtual events are a great way to connect with University of South Florida students. These events can assist you in finding qualified candidates and branding your organization. All virtual events will be advertised at all three USF campuses through Handshake.
Does your organization have its own access to a virtual meeting platform (e.g. Zoom, Webex, etc.)?
Great! If your organization has the capability to host virtual information sessions and events, you just need to provide us with your event details and we will do the rest.
Does your organization need to use USF's virtual meeting platform?
Employer Relations can facilitate a virtual information session through Microsoft Teams. Teams combines persistent chat rooms, video/voice, file sharing, meetings, and many other features into one application. As the presenter, you will just need access to a computer, internet, webcam, and microphone – it is that easy! Our team will provide you with a link for the presenter(s) and students to use and offer your team technical support to get the event started.
We invite you to participate in our new weekly event series, the Virtual Insiders Program!
Using Microsoft Teams, you can present to USF students on any topic related to navigating job search process (such as ways to make your resume stand out, how to make an impression at a virtual career fair, etc.). Helping students prepare for post-graduate success is a great way for USF Alumni and partners of the university to share their wealth of knowledge and experiences. All virtual events will be advertised across USF through our Handshake Platform.

Does your organization have access to a virtual meeting platform or prefer to host phone interviews?
Great! If your organization has the capability to host virtual or phone interviews, then your first step is to provide us with your interview schedule preferences, and then we will do the rest. Please review these instructions for sharing your virtual interviews with USF students using Handshake.
