Interviews

Interviews are a great way to move your part-time, internship, and full-time recruitment processes forward through pre-screening or conducting full interviews. Interview scheduling is handled through Handshake and you must have an active account to participate. Please click here to create a Handshake account for free or login to your existing account. All interviews will be advertised to USF students on all three campuses.

ON-CAMPUS INTERVIEWS

All interviews for the Fall 2020 semester will be held virtually.

VIRTUAL INTERVIEWS

For the Fall 2020 semester, regular season Virtual Interviews (including “Preselect” and “Open” interview types) may be hosted September 28, 2020 through October 30, 2020. You may use your own virtual meeting platform or phone number for hosting these interviews, or you are welcome to utilize the university’s virtual meeting platforms.

How to Register

To get started, submit your interview request through Handshake, then we will contact you via email to schedule your interview and recruitment strategy consultation. Please see the below specific registration instructions based on your access to a virtual meeting platform.

Does your organization have access to a virtual meeting platform or prefer to host phone interviews?
Great! If your organization has the capability to host virtual or phone interviews, then your first step is to provide us with your interview schedule preferences, and then we will do the rest. To get started, please review and follow these instructions for requesting your interview schedule at USF and then sharing your virtual interview links on your schedule.

Does your organization need a virtual meeting platform?
We can help with that! The Office of Employer Relations can facilitate virtual interviews through the university’s virtual meeting platform. Please review and follow these instructions for requesting your interview schedule at USF, and simply insert “Virtual” into the schedule name to get started.

Registration Timeline and Fees

There is no fee associated with hosting Open Interviews for the Fall 2020 semester.

The Preselect Interviews registration fee is $100.00 (registration fees for virtual events are not subject to Florida sales tax) per interview schedule hosted September 28 through October 30, 2020, and registrations will be accepted starting July 17, 2020. Note there is a four interview schedule limit per day (which may be hosted by one or multiple organizations), and multiple interviewers are permitted per schedule. Please check availability in Handshake while submitting your interview request.

Registration includes:

  • Interview and recruitment strategy consultation with USF Career Services staff
  • Promotion of your organization and preselect interview schedule by USF Career Services
  • Use of university video meeting platforms for hosting interviews, as needed
  • Direct access to USF Career Services staff for day-of interview support

Tax Exempt Organizations
Please inform the USF Career Services staff regarding your tax-exempt status when contacted to schedule your consultation. Please note that you will be asked to provide a copy of your State of Florida Tax Exemption Certificate (Form DR-14) to receive the registration rate without tax.

Payment Due Date: Net 30

Fees must be paid in full within 30 days after the interview date. Organizations who fail to pay their balance due by this due date may lose access to their ability to post positions and register for events until their balance is paid in full. Organizations who are experiencing difficulty with paying their balance are encouraged to reach out to us at RecruitUSF@usf.edu for assistance.

Registration Deadline: 4 Weeks Prior to Interview Date

The Preselect method is used by employers who select to interview candidates by pre-screening their resumes. Student sign-ups for these interviews are based on a structured timeline. For this schedule to be successful for you, it can take up to a minimum of four weeks to obtain a pool of candidates for interviews.

Cancellation Deadline: 2 Business Days Prior to the Interview Date

Cancellations must be received in writing (sent to RecruitUSF@usf.edu), prior to the interview cancellation deadline, two business days prior to the interview date. No refunds will be issued after the deadline.

If a registration was not canceled in writing by the deadline date and/or the organization is a "no-show," payment will still be expected and registration fees will not be refunded.

Best Practices & Requirements

To help drive students to your interview schedule, you must have an active Handshake job posting which thoroughly describes the position and preferred qualifications.

For preselect interviews, it's important to ensure that you share complete information about any targeted student populations with the USF Career Services staff during your interview and recruitment strategy consultation meeting. We will be using this to inform our promotion of your organization and interview schedule to students.

For all schedule types, if something changes with your job posting or interview plans, please let our team know as soon as possible so that we can help you make any necessary changes. Please contact us at RecruitUSF@usf.edu

AFTER-FAIR INTERVIEWS

After-Fair Interviews may be hosted September 16 through September 25, and will utilize the university's interview scheduling and video meeting platforms.
