REGISTRATION INFORMATION

The Fall 2020 Part-Time Job Fair will be held virtually through the Handshake platform. All students and alumni interested in attending the fair must register in Handshake.

To access your Handshake account, log into MyUSF and under the My Resources tab, choose the option to "Find A Job (Handshake)." This will log you into Handshake automatically. If you experience issues logging in, please email us at CareerServices@usf.edu. Do NOT attempt to create your own account as it will not be fully connected to USF and you will not be able to see positions, events, or appointments.

Why do I have to register?

In order to meet with employers and sign up for virtual one-on-one or group sessions with recruiters, you will have to register for the fair.

How can I register?

Registration is easy through Handshake! Click here to view the fair in Handshake, or navigate to it directly in Handshake's Fairs section. From that page, simply click the "Register/Join Event" button! Registration for the fair will open on August 14.

For detailed, step-by-step instructions, click here.

What happens after I register?

Once you've registered, you will be able to sign up for one-on-one and group sessions with employers. Employers will set up their schedules in the Handshake fair and you can pick an available time that works well for you.

Be sure to select a time that you know you will be able to attend. If you decide you are no longer able to attend that session, leave the session so that it becomes available for another student. If you do not attend a session you have signed up for, you may be subject to any or all of the items listed in our No-Show Policy.

VIRTUAL CAREER FAIR DETAILS

We are using Handshake as our virtual career fair platform for Fall 2020. We'll be providing updates throughout the summer to help you make the most of your time at the fair so that you can connect with organizations you're interested in.

Preparation & Best Practices

As you prepare for the Fall 2020 Part-Time Job Fair, please keep the following best practices in mind:

Know Before You Go

From helping you learn how to research employers to preparing you to give an elevator pitch, our Know Before You Go site has all the information you need to get ready for the fairs!

Sign Up For Sessions

You will be able to sign up for sessions before and during the fair, but we highly recommend that you sign up before the fair to make sure that you are able to sign up for sessions with all the employers you are interested in.

Be sure to select a time that you know you will be able to attend. If you decide you are no longer able to attend that session, leave the session so that it becomes available for another student. If you do not attend a session you have signed up for, you may be subject to any or all of the items in our No-Show Policy.

Update Your Handshake Profile

Make sure that your profile is up-to-date before you speak with employers. Things you should take some time to review include: your preferred name, your profile information, and your documents, like your resume.

You should also make sure that your profile is set to the correct profile visibility setting before the fair. You can make changes to this by clicking on "Settings & Privacy" under your name in the upper right corner.

  • To participate in 1:1 sessions you will need to set your profile visibility to Employers: This option will make you visible to employers approved by your school.
  • To participate in group sessions you will need to set your profile visibility to Community: This option will give you access to Peer Messaging. Choosing Community will make you visible to other students and alumni across all Handshake schools, as well as to employers approved by your school.

Handshake Resources

We encourage you to review the resources below to assist you as you plan to connect with employers in a virtual environment.
