DST Overview

The DST concentration and minor seek to educate students to communicate and interact with people who are d/Deaf and to apply this knowledge within work settings where knowledge of d/Deafness and Deaf culture is essential. The DST concentration is intended to prepare students to work in a variety of settings (social services, vocational rehabilitation, education, etc.) utilizing various communication methods, both manual and oral.


Coursework for the DST concentration and minor are designed to provide students with an opportunity to learn about the language, education, history, and culture of Deaf people in the United States as well as issues that impact the provision of services to this population.
