Note: In light of the holiday weekend, the deadline to submit materials to StageClip has been extended to 11:45 p.m. on Thursday, December 3.

November 23 Fall commencement update

Dear fall 2020 graduates:

We are writing with exciting news that the StageClip portal for students is now open!

You should have received an automated email from StageClip (noreply@mail.stageclip.com) over the weekend with your unique URL. If you do not see an email in your inbox please check your Microsoft quarantine:

  • Login to my.usf.edu
  • Select “Email Quarantine” under the “Email” header
  • Select the message from noreply@mail.stageclip.com
  • Select “Release message” and the email will then be delivered to your inbox

You are able to utilize this portal to submit a photo, video, and/or short written message that are related to your academic experience and/or those that supported you in that mission or your professional goals. Students do not need to wear regalia in their photo or video but it is certainly encouraged! Doctoral students can take advantage of this opportunity to submit a video of you being hooded, a time-honored tradition for those earning a doctorate—whether it be by your significant other or your family, it does not have to be your major professor. Please note that you cannot forward your email to another student as each student’s URL is unique to their U-number.

The StageClip portal will close on Tuesday, December 1, so do not delay in submitting your materials!

Do not forget that we are now accepting requests for students to receive a mailed hard copy of the Commencement program. Requests for programs are for students only and should be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, December 13 (the day after our ceremonies). Responses can be submitted here. Remember that bachelor’s and master’s students who applied to graduate through the Registrar’s Office's extended deadline of October 2 will be eligible to have their name included in the Virtual Commencement, but their name will not be included in the program or have accurate bachelor’s GPA honors status notated. Ph.D. and EdD students will be included in the program if they meet the ETD submission deadline and requirements, and DBA, DNP, PharmD, and DrPH students were submitted to this office manually by their respective program.

Finally, we want to answer a few frequently asked questions that we have been receiving lately. As always, if your question is not answered below please feel free to reach out to us.

I have not received my email from StageClip to submit my materials. What do I do?

Please visit upload.stageclip.com and enter in your USF email to receive the link to your submission portal. If you do not receive anything or need further assistance contact StageClip direct at talk@stageclip.com.

Where do I view the ceremonies?
The link to our Fall 2020 Virtual Commencement will be available on our website at 9 a.m. on Saturday, December 12.

What do I do if I miss the 9 a.m. start time?
Our ceremonies are prerecorded and it is therefore not necessary for you to tune in at 9 a.m. The ceremonies will be available for immediate replay at your convenience and the link will be available on our website throughout the spring 2021 semester.

Do I have to submit a photo, video, and written message? Do I need to submit anything at all?
Students are free to submit any or all of the pieces via the StageClip portal. You do not need to submit anything to be included in the ceremony.

November 6: Fall Commencement Update

Dear fall 2020 graduates:

As we hope you are all aware, our Fall 2020 Virtual Commencement will be held on Saturday, December 12 at 9:00 a.m. and will be done in partnership with StageClip.

Like our Summer Virtual Commencement, the ceremony will include having your name announced. We recognize that hearing your name be read as a new University of South Florida graduate and alumni is important, but perhaps more importantly is ensuring your name is pronounced correctly.

To that end, we have created a simple survey for you to fill out with your name's phonetic spelling/pronunciation. Please note that you do not need to complete this survey to have your name read; all students who applied to graduate by the Registrar's Office deadline of September 21—and the subsequent extended deadline of October 2—will have their name read, assuming you also have the privacy settings on your student records set to do so. We kindly ask that you only submit a response to the survey if your name is often mispronounced or people have difficulty with it. The responses are being monitored and matched up with graduates' legal names on record manually, so limiting responses will make this process more accurate.

Phonetic spellings/pronunciations should be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on Monday, November 9. Responses can be submitted here.

Partnering with StageClip also gives us the opportunity to allow each student to submit a photo, video and short written message that are related to your academic experience and/or those that supported you in that mission or your professional goals. We anticipate that the StageClip portal for submission will open on or around Tuesday, November 24 and will close on or around Tuesday, December 1. Further information on this process will be forthcoming.

Lastly, we are now accepting requests for students to receive a mailed hard copy of the Commencement program. Requests for programs are for students only and should be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, December 13 (the day after our ceremonies). Responses can be submitted here.

Remember, bachelor’s, master’s and specialist students who applied to graduate through the Registrar’s Office's extended deadline of October 2 will be eligible to have their name included in the Virtual Commencement, but their name will not be included in the program or have accurate bachelor’s GPA honors status notated.

PhD and EdD students will be included if they meet the ETD submission deadline and requirements, and AuD, DBA, DPT, DNP, PharmD and DrPH students should contact their program advisor to ensure they meet the necessary qualifications for inclusion.

Please continue to monitor your USF email address for further updates.

October 12: Virtual Commencement Announcement

Dear fall 2020 graduates,

We are writing today with news and updates for our upcoming Virtual Commencement. This semester's ceremonies will be held on Saturday, December 12 at 9:00 a.m. for all graduates across the University of South Florida.

New for this semester, every student who met the extended deadline to apply to graduate by Friday, October 2 will have the opportunity to submit a photo, video, and a quote to have displayed during their Virtual Commencement ceremony. The university is partnering with StageClip to make this enhancement happen, and further information, including when and where to submit your content, will be sent in the coming weeks.

As has been our practice, graduates will  be able to request a copy of the Commencement program be mailed to them. Remember, the deadline to be included in the Commencement program is the original graduation application deadline of September 21. Students will be notified via email when the program request form is available.

Finally, we want to share with you, on behalf of the USF Bookstore, that you are still able to purchase regalia, diploma frames, class rings, and graduation announcements to celebrate your academic achievements.

Class rings and graduation announcements can be ordered directly from the Herff Jones website, or by email or phone: (904) 641-4060.

Caps, gowns, tassels, hoods and diploma frames can be ordered directly from the USF Bookstore.

  • Bachelor's and master's regalia are available in store for immediate pick-up or can be ordered online.
  • Doctoral regalia can be purchased in person at the USF Bookstore or rented online.
  • Please note that honors medallions for fall 2020 undergraduate students will be available for purchase approximately two weeks prior to the end of the semester once the Registrar's Office has provided the list of qualifying students.
  • Honors sashes for undergraduate students must be ordered by October 23 from the Bookstore via the order form.

As always, please continue to monitor your USF email address for updates, as well as the Commencement website and feel free to email us with questions.

Fall 2020 Virtual Commencement Announcement

Dear fall 2020 graduates,

On September 23, the State University System of Florida directed all state universities, including the University of South Florida, to develop alternate commencement ceremonies for the fall semester. This announcement means that we will be holding a Virtual Commencement in December for our fall graduates. We are disappointed that we will not be able to provide yet another semester’s graduates with a traditional in-person celebration, but the safety of our students and their loved ones, as well as our faculty and staff, must always come first.

The university’s promise of a traditional in-person Commencement that was given to spring and summer 2020 graduates will continue to stay true, and will of course be extended to our fall 2020 graduates. All of our affected students will be invited to a future in-person ceremony, where they can have a traditional graduation celebration, when it is safe and appropriate to do so.

Further information regarding the Fall 2020 Virtual Commencement will be released in the coming weeks. Please be sure to continue to monitor your USF email and the Commencement website for details.

Update

Graduation application deadline for inclusion in Virtual Commencement extended to October 2.

Bachelor’s, master’s and specialist students who applied to graduate online by the Registrar’s Office deadline of September 21 will automatically be included in the Virtual Commencement and the program with the list of graduates. Because of the extreme circumstances with the continued COVID-19 pandemic, we have extended the timeframe in which students can be included in the Virtual Commencement. Bachelor’s, master’s and specialist students who apply through the Registrar’s Office via OASIS to graduate by October 2 will be eligible to have their name included in the Virtual Commencement, but their name will not be included in the program or have accurate bachelor’s GPA honors status notated.

PhD and EdD students will be included if they meet the ETD submission deadline and requirements, and AuD, DBA, DPT, DNP, PharmD and DrPH students should contact their program advisor to ensure they meet the necessary qualifications for inclusion.

Questions about the graduation application should be directed to the Registrar’s Office.
