Health and Safety Measures
It is our collective responsibility to make sure this event is as safe as possible. We all must do our part to prevent the transmission of the COVID-19 virus at this event. As a reminder, all Commencement attendees will be required to wear an appropriate face covering at all times, which also applies to individuals who have received a COVID-19 vaccine. Keeping others safe means staying away from the event and not attending if you have been exposed to someone who is infected or may have possibly been infected with COVID-19—or if you do not feel well. Regardless of vaccination status, these rules apply:

  • If you have been exposed to someone positive for COVID-19 in the past two weeks, you must stay home and not attend the event.
  • If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms, whether or not you believe you have been exposed to someone positive for COVID-19, you must stay home and not attend the event:
    • Fever or chills
    • Cough
    • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
    • Fatigue
    • Muscle or body aches
    • Headache
    • New loss of taste or smell
    • Sore throat
    • Congestion or runny nose
    • Nausea or vomiting
    • Diarrhea

In addition to maintaining physical distancing at the venue, the entire event space will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected before and after each ceremony.

Guest Tickets
Students will receive their guest tickets via email direct from our partner Cvent—your graduate will then share them with you.

Map of guest parking for the Spring 2021 Commencement

The parking lots and doors to Tropicana Field will open 90 minutes prior to each ceremony. Parking is free of charge for Spring Commencement. All graduates must enter the venue through gate 1 and parking is available in lots 6 and 7, with accessible parking available in lot 7. Lot 1 is also available for additional accessible parking with access to the building via gate 5.

Additionally, there used to be pages for bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral students because pre-COVID they had different directions, but now they’re all doing the same thing. Are we able to create a Student Information page, or can we change one of those existing (but currently hidden) pages to be one of those?

Ceremony Livestream
This semester the university will broadcast Commencement live via its YouTube channel. Both ceremonies will be archived and available for replay at the conclusion of each event.

No Bag Policy
Tropicana Field will be enforcing its no bag policy for Commencement to further enhance safety and security and reduce close contact interactions. Exemptions will be permitted for medical purposes and childcare but purses, backpacks and camera bags will not be permitted, in addition to other non-medical or childcare-related bags.

Stay Until the End
Out of respect for all graduates and their guests in attendance, we ask that all graduates and guests remain until the end of the ceremony to hear the conferring of degrees.
