Dr. Kathleen Gibson-Dee loves to study teaching strategies. Her research interests include the scholarship of teaching and learning, as well as science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education. She has presented workshops and professional development sessions about engaging students through best practices, including active and experiential learning, mastery goals, meaningful assessment and employing significant social issues in problem-based learning.

In her graduate and undergraduate courses, Gibson-Dee teaches students how to teach STEM, perform research and manage classrooms more effectively. Since joining USF in 2012, she has designed the curriculum for many of the university’s general education and lower level math courses; organized a week-long speaker series on leadership and civility; and, through the Privilege Project, developed a framework for using statistics to help students understand and appreciate privilege.
