Together Towards

Together Toward is an annual initiative for the Judy Genshaft Honors College. Each academic year, a committee of students, staff, and faculty will choose a theme encompassing important global issues and provide various events. Our hope is for students to discuss and gain a deeper understanding of the proposed theme on their own, but also through events and opportunities provided by the College.
This year’s theme of Sustainable Futures will provide spaces for students to define what sustainability means to them in a variety of contexts and to reflect on their own personal practices and those of the larger society. Please join us this year in moving together toward sustainable futures! Feel free to contact Mr. Kevin Lee (clee24@usf.edu), chair of this year’s theme, with any questions or suggestions.
UPCOMING EVENTS
Some of our world’s greatest concerns, issues such as poverty, lack of education, and inequality, have been labeled “grand challenges.” Many different organizations have taken on the task of addressing these challenges through competitions, and that is exactly what we are doing.
The competition is sponsored by the Richard and Jule Salem Scholars’ Fund for Disability. Our goal is to create real, feasible solutions to problems facing people in the disability community. This year, our Grand Challenge focuses on Access to Sustainable Futures.
Students who wish to participate will form teams of 3 or 4 honors students and submit proposals for addressing our selected challenge. The top teams will progress to the next round, where, after receiving feedback, they will pitch their ideas to a panel of judges who will award a winning team the opportunity to develop their concept into a reality with financial and mentorship support.
