Guidance for Hiring International Employees/Students
On March 17, 2020, all local Social Security Administration (SSA) offices closed to the public for in-person service to help slow the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) - https://www.ssa.gov/news/press/releases/2020/#3-2020-2
At this time, SSA is requiring individuals to send original documents via unsecured mail to receive a Social Security Card. We do not recommend sending important documents such as a passport via the mail.
We understand that these closures will cause a delay for those individuals who are in the process of obtaining their work authorizations and/or social security cards. Unfortunately, we will not be able to process any new hires without a valid work authorization and/or social security card.
For questions regarding international students, please contact the Office of International Services at firstname.lastname@example.org.
For questions regarding new hires or updating work authorizations, please contact email@example.com.
