Frequently Asked Questions

This website list camps operated by the Office of Youth Experiences as well as camps operated by other USF offices.

The answers below are for our Office of Youth Experiences camps including: C.A.G.E. Cyber Camp, Everyone Can Code, Tampa Theatre Film Camp, AFA CyberPatriot Middle School Cyber Camp, High School Cyber Camp, The Art of Filmmaking, Creative Writing, and the JGHC Summer Institute: Mock Trial Intensive.

Registration and Fees

How do I register my child for summer camp?

Online Registration: You can register online for all of our summer camps and locations! To register online, use the Register Now button next to the camp of your choice throughout the website.

Do you offer financial assistance?

Yes, with the support of our community partners, scholarships are available. We ask that you provide us with more information to help us better understand your needs. Apply now for a scholarship!

Are spaces in summer camps at the USF limited? Do you have a waiting list?

In order to best serve our campers, we have a set number of spaces available for summer camp. If the specific week of camp you are registering for is full, we will add you to the waiting list. You will be notified if a space becomes available.

What is your refund/cancelation policy?

USF reserves the right to cancel camps, in which case registration fees are fully refunded. If it becomes necessary for USF to cancel, postpone or combine camps, or change a camp location, you will be notified by email or phone. It is important that we have your current contact information. If a camp is cancelled, you will receive a full refund. If a registration is received after the enrollment limit has been reached, a full refund will be issued.

If you need to cancel a camp registration, please email USF Youth Experiences. If the cancellation occurs 10 days prior to camp start date a full refund will be received with the exception of administration fees. If the cancellation is received within 10 business days of the camp start date, a cancellation fee will be applied. No refunds will be issued after the start date of the camp.

Attendance, Arrival, and transportation

What time does my child need to be dropped off/picked up? 

Summer Camp Hours: 9:00AM - 4:00PM

Drop off: Campers can be dropped off at the beginning of camp hours listed above. 

Pick up: Campers must be picked up by the time provided above.

Who can pick up my child?

For the safety of our campers, only those individuals that are listed on the Authorized for Pick Up form may pick up your child. They must have a valid photo ID, and be at least 18 years old.

Meals

Will lunch or snacks be provided?

  • Tampa Theatre Film Camp: Popcorn and soda are provided every day, Pizza is provided on Friday
  • Everyone Can Code: Campers must pack a lunch daily. Pizza will be provided on Friday
  • C.A.G.E. Elementary Camp (In-Person): Campers must pack a lunch daily. Pizza will be provided on Friday
  • AFA CyberPatriot Middle School Cyber Camp: Campers must pack a lunch daily. Pizza will be provided on Friday
  • High School Cyber Camp: Lunch and snacks are provided.
  • The Art of FIlmmaking: Campers must pack a lunch daily. Pizza will be provided on Friday
  • Creative Writing: Campers must pack a lunch daily. Pizza will be provided on Friday
  • JGHC Summer Institute Mock Trial Intensive: Campers must pack a lunch daily. The Mock Trial on Saturday will be catered.

Can my child pack a lunch?

Yes, however, lunches are not refrigerated or reheated. Please pack accordingly. You must provide an ice pack if the lunch needs to stay cold.

What if my child has food allergies or other dietary restrictions?

During the registration process, you will be asked of any food allergies or other dietary restrictions. You may also email YouthXP@usf.edu for any additional concerns.

Staff

Who are the staff and what are their qualifications?

Our Summer Staff is an energetic and fun team of individuals, dedicated to creating a great camp experience for your camper. All of our staff receive training, are background checked, and vetted by the camp administration. Many of our instructors for camps are current or former certified teachers. We also utilize expertise from local area partners for certain camps.

What should my child bring to camp?

Please check the More Information tab for the camp your child is attending. There you will information on what is needed for that camp. 

What skills/experience are needed to attend camp?

Generally speaking, all of our camps are suitable for all. For more specific information about a camp, return to a list of all summer camps and select the "More Information" link for the camp you are interested in. 

Volunteering

Where do I find information about volunteering for the camps?

Our volunteer page has information and a link to a form for volunteers.

Making a donation

I would like to support your Summer Camp program with a donation of money, equipment, and/or supplies. How do I do that?

We have an entire page explaining how to get involved. We are beyond grateful to the members of our community—camper families, volunteers and staff.

How do I register a camp and/or program at USF?

If you are planning to host K-12 students on any of our campuses, please complete this form. Your completed response will be shared with USF Compliance and Ethics and HR to register your camp/program.
