The USF College of Marine Science is an inclusive community that values diversity and equity. We are committed to recruiting and nurturing a diverse student body, technical and administrative staff, and faculty. We welcome anyone with a passion for the oceans, for science, and for service to the community.

The College vision and our mission are guided by a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee and the vision of our university. The DEI Committee addresses issues, concerns, and opportunities identified by students, staff and faculty. Learn more about the committee and its current priorities

Our proactive wrap-around DEI approach provides students with several mentors at different stages in their careers. This approach grew out of our work as one of the Centers for Exemplary Mentoring in the US sponsored by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. We offer various competitive opportunities for support through in-house fellowship programs, our NSF-funded Bridge to Doctorate Program and the McKnight Doctoral Fellowship Program, and various opportunities as Graduate Research and Teaching Assistantships.
