2017 National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP)

Alfredo Peguero-Tejado, originally from Tampa, FL, is a proud recipient of the National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP). This award has afforded him the opportunity to conduct research by running computer simulations of proteins to enhance understanding between amino acid sequence and molecular structure.

Alfredo is thankful to USF faculty for giving him great advice during his academic career. He attributes his success to support from mentors, friends, and family, and feels this award provides him with intense focus on research and professional development.

In the future, Alfredo plans to promote science and math education in a manner that fosters creativity and independent learning.
