Isabella Chan, originally from Atlanta, Georgia, is a proud recipient of the 2017 P.E.O. Scholar Award. Her research focuses on decision-making around intimate partner violence among indigenous women in the north-central Peruvian Andes. This research is pivotal for the completion of her dissertation.
Isabella attributes her success to the support of her academic committee, all of whom have supported her throughout her doctoral career, as well as those with whom she worked in the province of Carhuaz, Peru.
After completing her PhD, Isabella's goal is to contribute to the alleviation of gender and ethnic inequality, particularly among indigenous women in the Andes.
