2017 National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP)

Tyler Henderson, originally from Richmond, VA, is a proud recipient of the National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) Honorable Mention. This award provided him the opportunity to propose an experiment testing mindfulness meditation as a method for reducing racial bias in shoot/don't shoot situations. In addition, he discussed his plans to conduct research that investigates relationships between mindfulness and health/social issues.

He feels that USF provided an environment that supported and encouraged him to pursue his interests in research. Tyler attributes his success to the guidance he received along his academic journey.

In the future, he plans to conduct the experiment he proposed for this award and pursue the same research path.

Congratulations to Tyler on winning the National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) Honorable Mention!
