New Student Checklist - International Students

Fall 2019 Admitted International Student Checklist

1. ACTIVATE YOUR NETID AND USF EMAIL ADDRESS

If you haven’t already, activate your NetID and check your USF email address regularly. Your USF email is used by all university offices for all official communication.

2. VERIFY YOUR CONTACT INFORMATION

Update your contact information to ensure that you receive critical information from USF.

  • Sign in to myUSF and navigate to OASIS (Online Access Student Information System)

  • Navigate to “Personal Information”

  • Verify that your address, telephone number and email addresses are current

3. COMPLETE YOUR ISTART PAPERWORK

In order to be in compliance with immigration policies, you must log into the iStart system and complete all tasks.

  • Log in to iStart to upload your immigration paperwork and receive your I20/DS2019/other immigration documents
  • All International students are required to participate in a document check

4. CONFIRM YOUR RESIDENCY STATUS

Confirm your status is accurate to ensure you will be charged the correct tuition rate.

  • Sign in to myUSF and navigate to OASIS (Online Access Student Information System)
  • Navigate to “Personal Information”
  • Confirm that your residency status is correct by reviewing our Residency Information for Freshmen (See the items you can provide to show proof of residency and what qualifies you as a resident)
  • If your residency status is wrong, email your admissions recruiter or call 813-974-3350

5. EXPLORE USF SCHOLARSHIPS

Check out additional scholarship opportunities offered by USF. To be considered for the most aid possible, submit your scholarship application before January 15.

6. PAY ADMISSIONS DEPOSIT - FIRST YEAR STUDENTS ONLY

In order to secure your spot for fall, please pay your deposit no later than May 1. To make your payment:

  • Sign in to myUSF and navigate to OASIS (Online Access Student Information System)
  • Navigate to “Admissions”
  • Pay the $200 non-refundable deposit

7. PAY TUITION AND FEES

  • Prepare a payment transfer to cover all tuition and fees
  • Visit OASIS to determine the amount owed

8. SUBMIT YOUR IMMUNIZATION RECORDS AND MEDICAL HISTORY

We need to receive your immunization records and medical history before you can register for orientation and select campus housing.

  • Check the USF Applicant Portal to determine which records are on file

  • Make an appointment with your physician

  • Complete any pending items and tasks:

    a. Upload missing Immunization Records to the Applicant Portal

    b. Verify in the Applicant Portal that documents have been received and holds have been cleared

    c. Allow 3-7 days for processing of pending items

  • Holds will be cleared once all tasks are completed

  • Log into the myUSF portal and click on the Resources tab to access OASIS.

9. SUBMIT PROOF OF HEALTH INSURANCE

Submit your proof of insurance so you can register for courses.

10. APPLY FOR HOUSING AND MEAL PLAN

Now comes the fun part.

11. REGISTER FOR GLO-BULL BEGINNINGS WEEK

Glo-Bull Beginnings Week, your orientation to the University of South Florida, is your opportunity to experience what it’s like to be a USF student, both inside and outside of the classroom. Registration opens in March and attendance is required.

12. SELECT YOUR ON-CAMPUS ROOM

Be sure to select your room from mid-March through June 30. After June 30, the Housing & Residential Education team will provide the best available option based on your room preferences.

  • You must have completed your housing application and registered for orientation to receive a housing assignment

13. SUBMIT FINAL TRANSCRIPTS, TEST SCORES AND EXAM CREDITS

Once you receive your final transcripts, submit them to the Office of Admissions. You must submit all of these documents before the end of your first semester.

14. CONNECT WITH YOUR PEERS

Meet your new classmates before arriving on campus!
