Dr. Hansen Featured as Keynote Speaker for the Sustainable Urban Agriculture Annual Meeting

On Feb. 5, Dr. Brooke Hansen gave the keynote presentation at the Sustainable Urban Agriculture Coalition Annual Meeting at the Enoch Davis Center in St. Petersburg, home of the Enoch Davis Youth Farm. She spoke of creating global communities of practice for regenerative agriculture and her work with the USF Institute on Microbiomes where she is connecting regenerative agriculture with regenerative tourism to highlight the importance of biodiversity for ecosystem and human health. She has organized tours to the regenerative farm operated by Brad Turner of Turner Citrus Farm and hopes to develop more tours throughout the Tampa Bay Region. Dr. Hansen gave an overview of the USF Metropolitan Food Project (MFP), an interdisciplinary project housed at the Institute on Microbiomes that aims to establish a research farm at USF.
