Hello and welcome to USF!
My name is Dr. Cassandra Alvarado, and I am a Licensed Psychologist at the Counseling Center. A little about me: I grew up in Tampa and recently returned, after moving around the country for school and training. In my free time, I enjoy traveling and learning about different cultures. I completed my doctorate at Nova Southeastern University, my pre-doctoral internship at The Renfrew Center of Florida, and my post-doctoral fellowship at Cambridge Eating Disorder Center. My experiences working with college students ignited my passion to continue working with this population. College and graduate school are exciting times of transition that also come with some challenges, which can be difficult to manage. I enjoy working with students in a collaborative way to identify thinking patterns and behaviors that are keeping you stuck, and to help you develop new coping tools. My approach to therapy is primarily cognitive-behavioral based interventions.
Clinical Interests: My professional interests include eating disorders, body image concerns, depression, anxiety, and women's issues.
Approach to Supervision/Training: Competency-Based Supervision Model
