National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) and Multicultural Greek Council (MGC)

The governing council DOES not coordinate each organization's membership growth events – this is done by each particular fraternity or sorority.

Some organizations allow FTIC and transfer students to join right away, other organizations require that a student complete at least 12 credit hours at the institution before joining.

Some organizations do membership intake every semester, others do it only once per year – this decision is made by each individual fraternity or sorority in conjunction with the national organization.

Step 1: Attend the NPHC/MGC Convocation

Step 2: Attend an organization's Informational/Interest Meeting/Rush events

Ways to find out about these events:

  • Ask in the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life
  • Attend the particular organization's Week of Welcome or other events
  • Attend the Council's Informational
  • Look out for flyers in bulletin boards across campus
  • Contact the individual organization
  • Look for information on each organization's local or national websites
