Choosing A Major

The process of choosing a major, and discovering something that you are passionate about, can be exciting! Major Reselection will assist you in choosing the right major according to your career goals and current academic status.


A major is a specific subject area that students specialize in. Typically, between one-third and one-half of the courses you take in college will be in your major or related to it.


Represents an area of study that supplements your major or intended career path, or a side interest for your own. These are usually less than 20 credits, depending on the subject area.

Change of Major / Major Declaration

The process for declaring your major depends on the college where it is housed. Some majors allow you to declare online, while others require for you to meet with an advisor.

Double Majors & Concurrent Degrees

Double Majors: Pursuing two majors while earning one degree. Concurrent Degrees: Pursuing two majors, while earning two separate degrees.


Designed to enhance the student's academic and professional growth, providing technical knowledge of a specific field. It is separate from the B.A. or B.S. degree. Usually may be completed in less than one year.
