Our Work

Academic Advocates collaborate with Care Team campus partners to coordinate the most appropriate response to student's needs. These partners have great resources for students and their success. The Care Team consists of support personnel including: Academic Advocates, Academic Advisors, Academic Foundations, Career Services, Financial Aid, Housing, Library, New Student Connections, and Orientation.

Academic Advisors help students understand how to make the most of their college experience. Advisors assist students with the development of an educational plan towards career goals. They can assist students with understanding their major, craft an academic plan, determine accurate course load, and lift academic holds.

Academic Foundations equip students for academic and personal success at USF and beyond. Their courses assist students with the transition from high school or from another institution to a major research university. Foundations of Interdisciplinary Knowledge and Inquiry, Academic Foundations, and Academic Transitions seminar courses are designed to support students during this time of adjustment and acclimation.

The Academic Success Center (ASC) on the Tampa campus provides centralized learning support for students. The ASC is comprised of three major sub-centers: the Tutoring Hub, SMART Lab, and the Writing Studio. They work in partnership with the Student Success Center on the St. Petersburg campus and Learning Support Services on the Sarasota-Manatee campus in providing quality learning support to all actively enrolled USF students.

Career Services helps empower and educate students to be prepared for a global workforce. They strive to provide innovative employer-focused programming to facilitate successful connections between students and our campus and community partners. Career Services offers a variety of services, such as Career Express, Handshake, and Suit-A-Bull, to mention a few.

The Office of Financial Aid will provide services to help ensure your financial resources remain available. They also offer students financial literacy coaching and workshops offered by professional staff and well-trained peers.

USF provides housing at the Tampa and St. Petersburg campuses. Housing is dedicated to creating safe and welcoming residential communities that promote student success. Their dynamic residential experience produces proud USF alumni and engaged global citizens.

USF Libraries provide students with research assistance and information literacy, as well as student technology resources, study rooms, research consultation, and an array of digital course materials.

The mission of New Student Connections at the Tampa campus is to cultivate community, foster a sense of belonging, and provide individualized support. Similar services are offered at the St. Petersburg campus though COMPASS Student Experience and at the Sarasota-Manatee campus through the Office of Student Engagement.

The Office of Orientation is committed to providing all incoming students the resources to be successful. They provide intentional and specific programming for first year students, transfer students, international students, and their families.
