Admission to USF is more competitive than ever, but the process of applying is not difficult. Learn more about transfer admission requirements, application deadlines and how to apply.

Application Deadlines

Apply early! Admissions decisions are made on a rolling basis as applications are completed and all supporting documents are received.

Transfer & Second Bachelor's Degree Students

Former Students Returning to USF

Please complete an application no later than 20 business days prior to the first day for your desired term of entry.


We recommend you regularly check the status of your application to ensure our office has received all required application materials. You will receive your decision by mail once a decision is rendered.

Lower-Level Transfers: Application Requirements

If you have graduated from high school and attempted or earned 12 to 59 transferrable credits, USF considers you a lower-level transfer applicant.

Applicants are required to have successfully completed a minimum of 67 percent of all credit hours attempted at currently and previously enrolled institutions. In addition, you must meet the Florida Board of Governors minimums. A 2.50 transfer or postsecondary transferrable GPA (3.20 for nursing) is required.

How to Apply

1. Complete the online application
2. Pay the non-refundable $30 application fee or submit a NACAC application fee waiver
3. Send your official high school transcript(s) to USF

  • Ask your high school to send transcripts to USF electronically. If this option is not available, official transcripts should be mailed to:

4. Send official SAT or ACT scores to USF

5. Submit official college transcript(s) to USF from each college or university attended

  • Electronic transcripts transmitted to USF from the Florida College System do not include courses from other colleges/universities. It is highly recommended you have transcripts from any prior schools sent electronically to USF. This will expedite review of your application. If this option is not available, all documents should be sent to:

  • Any college or university work that was completed at a non-U.S. institution must be submitted along with a course-by-course Foreign Credential Evaluation from a Credential Evaluation Service.

6. INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS ONLY: Send official IELTS or TOEFL scores to USF

Upper-Level Transfers: Application Requirements

If you have graduated from high school and obtained 60+ transferrable credits. USF considers you an upper-level transfer student.

Applicants are required to have successfully completed a minimum of 67 percent of all credit hours attempted at currently and previously enrolled institutions. A minimum transferrable GPA of 2.30 is required (except applicants with an AA degree from a Florida College System institution and a minimum transferrable GPA of 2.00).

The following majors are selective admissions programs. This means upper-level transfer applicants must meet the stated GPA minimums to be admitted.

**2.50 for applicants with an A.S. in Nursing degree from the Florida College System.

USF offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Science (BSAS) for Associate in Science degree graduates from the Florida College System.  Detailed information on this degree program is available at www.ugs.usf.edu/academic/bsas.htm.

4. INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS ONLY: Send official IELTS or TOEFL scores to USF

Please note: You will be charged double the tuition rate for each credit hour beyond 132 (for students in a 120-hour degree program) or 110 percent in excess of the hours required. Additionally, students who have attempted 180 credit hours are no longer eligible for financial aid as an undergraduate (including federal student loans).

Second Bachelor's Degree: Application Requirements

3. Submit official college transcript(s) to USF from each college or university attended

  • If you completed coursework at USF, it is not necessary to submit official copies of your USF transcript.
  • Electronic transcripts transmitted to USF from the Florida College System do not include courses from other colleges/universities. It is highly recommended you have transcripts from any prior schools sent electronically to USF. This will expedite review of your application. If this option is not available, all documents should be sent to:

4. INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS ONLY: Send official IELTS or TOEFL scores to USF

Please note: Second bachelor's degree applicants are expected to take only those courses necessary to complete a degree within three terms.

Students will be charged double the tuition rate for each credit hour beyond 132 (for students in a 120-hour degree program) or 110 percent in excess of the hours required. Additionally, applicants who have attempted 180 credit hours are no longer eligible for financial aid as an undergraduate applicant (including federal student loans). 

Former USF Students: Re-Admission Requirements

If you are a former USF student and would like to be considered for readmission, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Be eligible to return to the University of South Florida and have a 2.00 cumulative USF GPA.
  • Be in good standing and eligible to return to the last institution attended as a degree-seeking student.
  • Have achieved a GPA of at least 2.0 as calculated by USF on a 4.0 scale on all college-level academic courses attempted at institution(s) attended since last enrolled at USF.
  • If you are re-applying to a selective admission program, you must meet the program's minimum GPA requirement.

4. File an ARC petition if you were academically dismissed at the end of your last term of enrollment at USF or have a cumulative USF GPA less than 2.00.
