Why USF?

Military Services at USF

With MacDill Airforce Base, U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM) and U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) located in Tampa, USF has a long tradition of partnership and support of the U.S. Military.

Veterans

USF is one of the top veteran-friendly campuses in the country. We were ranked 4th among all four-year U.S institutions in the 2020 Military Times Best: Colleges and named a Best College for Veterans by U.S. News and World Report in 2020.

Not only will you benefit by getting your degree from a nationally ranked university –  you also will find camaraderie among our large student veteran population, as well as ongoing support from our Office of Veteran Success. Staffed by veterans and dependents that understand your needs, the OVS assists with benefits processing, peer tutoring and career/professional development every year – all while providing encouragement and fellowship.

We offer an out-of-state tuition waiver for any qualified veteran, dependent, or active duty personnel who enrolls in the university. Additionally, our Pathways program walks students through the admission process and how to use the GI Bill benefit.

ROTC

USF is one of only 50 campuses in the nation that hosts ROTC programs from all of the nation's Armed Services (Army, Marine Corps, Navy and Air Force). Hundreds of men and women participate in these programs every year and graduate as commissioned officers in their respective branches.

There’s even an ROTC living-learning community located in Maple Hall on the Tampa campus. ROTC members live together and are exposed to traditions, customs, and the culture of each military service while developing a sense of camaraderie and identification. Learn more:
