Transfer Course Evaluations

The Departments of Chemistry, Integrative Biology, Molecular Biosciences, and Physics strictly enforce pre-requisites for ALL courses. If you have met the pre-requisites for a course but receive an error message when registering, you may need a permit in order to register for the course.

The State of Florida follows a common course numbering system, so courses with the same number taken at any public Florida 2 or 4 year school are automatically deemed equivalent. For example, CHM 2045 taken at Florida State is automatically equivalent to CHM 2045 at USF.

However, pre-requisites that were taken at private or out-of-state institutions must be evaluated by the academic department that offers the course for equivalency to the USF pre-requisite.

To facilitate an easier transfer evaluation process, you can submit your chemistry, physics, or biology coursework via our common submission form. To request a course evaluation, submit a scanned copy of the syllabus to the online course evaluation form. Your request will be emailed to the transfer course evaluation team and they will notify you via email once the review is complete. Please allow two weeks (10 business days, Mon-Fri) to receive a response regarding your course evaluation; therefore, please do not request any permits until you have received notification that your course evaluations are completed!

If you are having difficulty locating an old syllabus, the department at your previous institution may have an archive of syllabi from past semesters. Please contact your previous institution and request an electronic copy of the syllabus from the semester and year in which you completed the course. If the institution does not have a syllabus on file from the term in which you took the course, we will need an official letter from the department, stating that they do not have a syllabus from that term. However, if the institution is able to provide a syllabus from an alternative semester, they must indicate in their official letter that the content included in the syllabus is the same content taught in the course during the term in which you took the course.

Click on the following button to request an evaluation of any private or out-of-state chemistry, biology, and/or physics courses. You must have a scanned copy of your syllabus ready before you click on this button.
