View the August 31st, 2023 Virtual Information Session

Welcome to the Rehabilitation Counseling and Disability Sciences Program in the Department of Child and Family Studies at the University of South Florida. It is our mission to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities and their families by educating graduate students with the essential skills, knowledge, and dispositions needed to become ethical, responsive, and culturally competent professionals working in the field of human services. This program prepares students with a solid foundation to become a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor and/or to work in leadership roles servicing people with disabilities.

Our faculty are committed to providing the highest level of teaching to our students in this 60-credit, fully online master’s program. Our courses are designed to be interactive and engaging so that students can, not only learn about the subject matter, but can be challenged to critically think about the issues facing people with disabilities today and act as advocates within the field.  Graduates of our program will become advocates, counselors, educators, and researchers in the field of Rehabilitation Counseling and Disability Sciences.

The MA in Rehabilitation Counseling and Disability Sciences prepares the next generation of leaders in agencies servicing people with disabilities, on the local, state, and federal levels.  Students will gain the skills needed to become Certified Rehabilitation Counselors and can further their career working for state vocational rehabilitation agencies, the Veteran’s Administration or in a wide range of disability related fields.  These could include careers as administrators, social service professionals, educators, advocates, and human resource coordinators.

We welcome students from all walks of life, and all corners of the world to learn more about our program.  If you are a prospective student and would like additional information about our program, you will find material regarding admissions, faculty, financial aid/scholarships, et. under the “student resources” tab at the left of this page.  You can also contact us directly.
