Auditory Neural Engineering Lab

I earned my B.A. in Psychology at the University of South Florida. I am a Ph.D. student in Communication Sciences and Disorders, with a concentration in Hearing Science. I am currently studying the behavioral and neural underpinnings of presbycusis, tinnitus, and the cocktail party problem in the mouse model. Some of my recent work involved leveraging the acoustic startle response and extra-cellular electrophysiology in the inferior colliculus to characterize the effect of presbycusis on signal-in-noise detection, and subsequently ameliorating signal-in-noise deficits via a targeted sound enrichment protocol. Additionally, our group has constructed a machine learning model which can classify the acoustic startle response with 98% accuracy. I am currently a member of the Auditory Neural Engineering Laboratory within the Global Center for Hearing and Speech Research.
