Background

Dr. Patricia L. Daniel Jones is currently an Associate Professor in the English Education program. She teaches Methods of Teaching English for Middle School at Thomas E. Weightman Middle School, a Professional Development School with USF. She is also the Director of the Tampa Bay Area Writing Project. 

Teaching

Prior to her appointment to USF, Dr. Jones taught Language Arts in a Oklahoma middle school for 12 years and taught Language Arts Education for a total of five years at the University of Houston-Victoria and Western Kentucky University.

Research and Publications

Dr. Jones has written journal articles published in English Journal, Language Arts, Teaching and Change, Equity and Excellence in Education, Florida Reading Quarterly, and The Journal of Staff Development. She has written chapters, including "Rights of Passage: Preparing Gay & Lesbian Youth for Their Journey into Adulthood" in Family Issues: Helping Adolescents Through Literature and chapters in Adolescent Literature as a Complement to the Classics, Volumes 2, 3, 4, and Identity Issues: Using Literature to Help Troubled Teenagers.

Service

Dr. Jones serves on the review boards of the English Journal and The ALAN Review. She is also the Co-Editor of International Journal of Educational Policy, Research and Practice.
