2024 Tampa Bay Residency Showcase

Physical Therapy Residency Acceptances 2024

The graduating class of 2024 had a remarkable surge in applications and acceptances to premier physical therapy residency programs across the nation. This trend reflects the ongoing growth in students pursuing these opportunities within our Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program, a trajectory that has been steadily ascending over the past three years. This year, we proudly announce that ten of our students have earned coveted spots in various residency programs, both within the state of Florida and nationally.  “As the director of our residency program and a member of the faculty, I am thrilled to witness the ongoing enthusiasm of our students in pursuing residencies. It's not only gratifying to see their ambition but equally exciting to observe their success in securing placements within highly competitive programs, where they are exposed to unparalleled opportunities for growth and development.”

The upsurge in interest towards residencies comes as no surprise to our faculty and staff, given our program's steadfast commitment to fostering lifelong learning. We firmly believe that education and knowledge are perpetual pursuits, extending far beyond graduation. To further facilitate this journey, we've forged partnerships with other DPT programs, culminating in the annual Tampa Bay Residency Showcase. This event, now a cornerstone of our academic calendar, attracts over a dozen residency programs from Florida and across the nation, eager to recruit talent from institutions such as Nova Southeastern Tampa, Gannon University Ruskin, and Florida Southern College.

Our dedication to nurturing aspiring physical therapists doesn't end there. Through initiatives like the Residency Lunch and Learn sessions and integrated interactions with our USF Health Orthopaedic Physical Therapy residents, our students benefit from invaluable exposure to real-world experiences in both classroom settings and clinical rotations.

Participation in a residency program affords students a tailored educational experience, combining specialized didactic instruction, immersive clinical practice, and personalized mentoring within their chosen specialty. This holistic approach ensures that each participant emerges as a well-rounded, adept professional, poised to make meaningful contributions to the field of physical therapy.  Aimee Klein, PT, DPT, DSc, Professor and Program Director, USF Health Orthopaedic PT Residency says “Residencies are crafted to encompass the multifaceted roles of a specialist: educator, clinician, researcher, and consultant. Through a comprehensive curriculum, residents embark on a transformative journey, nurturing their professional identity and fostering growth across all dimensions of specialty practice.” Below are the Class of 2024 residency acceptances, their specialty, and where they will be completing it.
