Migrating to Canvas

ATTENTION: Blackboard will NOT be accessible after December 31, 2013!

Join us Dec. 16-20, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in SVC 1072 for the Blackboard Last Chance Lab--drop-in spport for faculty during the final countdown to Blackboard shut-down and full implementation of Canvas at USF.

No Access to Blackboard in 2014

Once Blackboard is shut off on December 31, 2013, there will be no further access, including no Read-Only access. All materials and grades stored in Blackboard (including the Content Collection)  will not be visible or accessible. Thus, these items must be retrieved by faculty members before 2013 ends.

Backing up from Blackboard

The moving of material ("migration") from Blackboard to Canvas is a manual process done by each faculty member. Those wishing to start fresh in Canvas may freely ignore Blackboard and just upload new materials directly into Canvas.

Grade records should be downloaded as .csv exports for each class, and kept for one calendar year from the end of the class. If you need assistance with this process, contact ATLE for help. This must also be done before December 31st.

This handout explains how to download grades and materials from Blackboard (which must be done by Dec. 31st) and move materials into Canvas (which can be done later).

Migration Video

This four minute video will show the process to migrate folders-and-files to Canvas, which is not always an intuitive process.
