First Year Students
Parents and Families
Parents and family members play an important role in their student's transition to the University of the South Florida. We recognize the support you need as well, so we have designed a program to meet your specific needs and concerns. The program gives you the information you need, while also providing helpful information on assisting in your student's success.
Family members who attend the Orientation session will receive an electronic confirmation packet (in PDF form) via email after the student reservation is confirmed. This e-confirmation packet will include detailed information about the session and necessary arrival information, including a parking permit. An official & final schedule will be provided upon check-in.
The Family Program is a separate but concurrent session with the Student Program. Except for a few select presentations and meals, students and families will attend Orientation separately. The Family program includes ample time for parents and families to complete campus business (such as submitting paperwork) and connect with offices to address specific questions.
For more information about the sessions in the family program, review the Schedule at a Glance.
No Overnight Housing
Family members attending Orientation with their students must make their own accommodations for an overnight stay. Many families who live locally will commute from home, but those coming from a distance may choose to stay in a local hotel.
If you require ADA accommodations to attend Orientation, your student will see the option to complete a form during the reservation process. If the link was missed or your situation has changed since the time of reservation, you can still submit a request. All requests should be submitted 10 days in advance of the session.
