Freshman Admissions Scholarships

Florida Residents 2018 - 2019

To be considered for merit-based scholarships from the Office of Admissions, students must submit a complete admissions application by January 15. For additional information about the awarding process, please visit Freshman Scholarship Requirements & Timeline. All scholarships are awarded on a funds available basis to students that have been admitted to the Tampa campus. Scholarships are not transferrable to other USF campuses.

USF Directors Award $16,000 ($4,000 per year) 4.00+ GPA and
1360+ SAT (Evidence-Based Reading/Writing and Math) or
29+ ACT
USF Scholars Award $12,000 ($3,000 per year) 3.80+ GPA and
1260+ SAT (Evidence-Based Reading/Writing and Math) or
26+ ACT


The above awards are not stackable. Students will receive the highest award for which they qualify within the awarding timeline.



The following awards are stackable with the USF Scholars, USF Directors, and USF Presidential Awards.

USF Tradition of Excellence Awards (students receive only the highest award for which they qualify) National Merit Scholars* $20,000 ($5,000 per year), study abroad scholarship and housing priority Receive designation as a National Merit Finalist by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation and name USF as your first-choice school.
National Hispanic Scholars $20,000 ($5,000 per year) and a study abroad scholarship Receive designation as a National Hispanic Scholar Finalist by the College Board in the National Hispanic Recognition Program.
 USF Honors College Scholarship $2,000 (Based on participation) 4.00+ GPA and
1400+ SAT (Evidence-Based Reading/Writing and Math) or
30+ ACT

USF History of Achievement Award  $8,000 ($2,000 per year) Recognizes select students who have achieved above average academic records in high school while facing significant socioeconomic, educational, cultural or personal challenges.
USF Ventures Scholars Award  $4,000 ($1,000 per year) Recognizes students designated as Ventures Scholars by the Ventures Scholars Program. To be considered for this award, you must submit your Ventures Scholars Certificate to by March 1.

 *The Benacquisto Scholarship Program (formerly) Florida Incentive Scholarship Program is a merit scholarship for Florida high school graduates who achieve the National Merit® Scholar designation. If a student qualifies for this award, it will replace all other awards from the Office of Admissions, including the Tradition of Excellence Scholarship. The Benacquisto Scholarship covers 100 percent of the cost of attendance, minus the amount that the recipient receives from Bright Futures and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
