Students typically enter the Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling Program (RMHC) after earning a bachelor's degree in a social, behavioral or health sciences related disciplines, but no specific undergraduate major is required.
Applicants to the RMHC Program are expected to have earned a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher on all course work beyond 60 credit hours at the bachelor's degree level from a regionally accredited institution or the equivalent from a foreign institution. Applicants must have completed an undergraduate statistic course or complete one within their first semester of admissions to the RMHC program. All GRE waiver requests should be sent to Sarah Balmer after complete submission of the application.
Applicants must complete the following steps:
- Submit an online Graduate Application Opens in a new window indicating Rehabilitation Counseling as the selected major.
- Submit all required documents to the Office of Graduate Admissions which will include 3 Letters of Recommendation, current resume, official GRE scores, and statement of purpose. Specific details regarding document requirements are listed on the application. Required documents will NOT be accepted by mail, fax or email to the RMHC Program. All documents MUST be uploaded via the application or sent to the Office of Graduate Admissions. Failure to submit required documentation to the Office of Graduate Admissions could lead to an application being considered incomplete.
- Pay the $30 application fee as required by the application.
Students are admitted in Fall semesters only. The application deadline is January 15th for fall semester admissions. International students please refer to the International Admissions-Office of Admissions website page for all international deadlines. Enrollment is limited and applications are judged competitively. Meeting minimum admission standards does not guarantee acceptance into the program.
Non-Degree Seeking Students

Please note that the RMHC program only allows non-degree seeking students to take RCS 6476 Human Sexuality or RCS 5450 Fundamental of Substance Abuse Counseling. If there is a need to take a different course please contact Sarah Balmer at firstname.lastname@example.org. Non-degree students may only take up to 15 credits of classes.
