WICSE at Tapia

WICSE members as well as other USF students pictured above participating in some of the different Tapia events.

WICSE members had the opportunity to partake in an invaluable experience at the TAPIA conference this year in Orlando, FL. TAPIA celebrates diversity in computing and it has brought people from across the country with diverse backgrounds together for three days. At the conference, WICSE members collaborated with different individuals and gained wonderful insights from these interactions. In addition, TAPIA offered a variety of "Tech Talks" which emphasize different experiences within computing as well as emerging technologies. Two of USF's PhD students were inspired by the untold stories after attending the talk, "Untold Stories of Black Women PhDs in Computing."

Students engaged with companies like Google, Microsoft, and Salesforce, as well as graduate schools like Stanford, Carnegie Mellon, and Georgia Tech. Multiple students were offered the interviews for internships and full-time positions.

This experience was funded by a $6,000 Gold-level sponsorship from CSE, as well as sponsorship from JPMorgan Chase & Co, and CAE.
