Certificate in Digital Humanities

The Graduate Certificate in Digital Humanities program, designed in collaboration between the History department and the English department, offers students enrolled in the Graduate School an opportunity to complete a series of courses (12 hours) at the intersection of technology and humanities research and learning. It offers training in technologies and platforms associated with 2D/3D digitization, visualization, electronic editions, cultural heritage, archives, text mining, data analysis and visualization, the use of  mapping and GIS in humanities research, and the study of digital media and technology from humanities perspectives.

REQUIREMENTS (12 hours, 4 courses)

  • DIG 6178 Introduction to Digital Humanities (3 hours)
  • DIG 6585 Digital Humanities Capstone (3 hours)
  • Two additional appropriate graduate courses, as approved by the program, in English, History, Computer Science, Art, Library and information Science (6 hours) 

Students enrolled in the certificate program can have access to the Institute of Digital Exploration's laboratory to design and develop those digital humanities' projects focusing on tangible cultural heritage.
