Comparing Telehealth versus Conventional Hearing Care Delivery Model in the ACHIEVE Study (ACHIEVE Successful Aging Follow Up, or ACHIEVE-SAFU)

Eligibility: Adults aged 70-84 years with hearing loss who were free of cognitive impairment at study start.  

Goal: To compare the effects of blended telehealth versus standard hearing health care (HHC) delivery model on the utilization of hearing aids, satisfaction, and communicative, social, and mental functioning in older adults with hearing loss.

Study Overview 

ACHIEVE SAFU is a follow-up study involving the participants from the ACHIEVE randomized control trial. This study is comparing the effects of blended telehealth HHC versus standard HHC delivery on the utilization of hearing aids, satisfaction, and communicative, social, and mental functioning in older adults with hearing loss. Eligibility for the study is the same as the ACHIEVE RCT study. Comparisons will be made between participants from the successful aging group who will receive hearing intervention and blended telehealth HHC delivery versus participants form the hearing internveiton group who received standard HHC delivery. Participants from the SAFU group will complete an additional 10 visits over a 3-year period.
