Families and Guests
*If you are attending Orientation for Spring 2022, please check back later for your specific information regarding your sessions and other important information.*
Welcome to the Bulls family! Your student has decided to attend USF and join the Bulls family, which means that you are a member of our family too. Family members and guests of incoming students play an important role in their student's transition to the University of South Florida. We recognize the support you need as well, so we have designed a program to meet your specific needs and concerns, whether this is your first student in college or you are an alumni of USF. During this full-day Orientation, you will have the opportunity to learn about resources available on campus, hear from your student's academic college, discover ways to help your student's success in and out of the classroom, and meet other families and guests entering the university.
Families and guests of incoming USF First Year students will be given the option to register for a supplemental Family and Guest Virtual Orientation program. Orientation has crafted a selection of resources and information available to First Year families and guests as a registered guest, which they will be able to access virtually. Registered families and guests will be added to an online Canvas Catalog portal that has a wealth of content for families and guests about USF resources that will help you support your student during their academic journey. The Canvas Catalog Portal can be reviewed at your own pace, available at all times, via a unique login and password that you will receive later in an email
In addition to the Canvas Catalog portal, families and guests are invited to attend a Live Synchronous Orientation session. During your scheduled Live Synchronous session, you'll join the Orientation Team and other family members and guests for a full-day event on all things USF. Campus Partners and Orientation Leaders will guide you through live virtual workshops and conversations to help you to support your student during their transition to USF. This session will require you to have access to a computer and reliable internet connection from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST. A schedule of events for your Live Synchronous session will come in an email, so make sure to stay up to date with the information we send you!
We are excited for you to join one of our many Orientation dates. When your student registers for Orientation they may add you and additional guests to their reservation. If your student already registered for Orientation, but did not add a guest, they may go back into their reservation and update it accordingly. Please note that, when sessions are in person, while your student has a mandatory overnight stay (summer/fall only) associated with their Orientation session, accommodations for families and guests are not provided.
Family members and guests who are registered to attend the Orientation session will receive an electronic confirmation packet (in PDF form) through the student's myOrientation reservation. Please work with your student to download their e-confirmation packet, as well as the Family and Guest e-confirmation packet. This e-confirmation packet will include detailed information about the session and necessary arrival information, including a parking permit if needed. You will receive additional details via email preparing you for your arrival prior to Orientation. Do not hesitate to reach out to our office by calling (813) 467-6731 or 813-974-3060 with any questions you have.
