USF Offers Scholarship for Non-profit Executives to Earn an MBA

Applications for the scholarship are due no later than June 1, 2013

Tampa, FL (March 28, 2013) — Executives from non-profit charitable agencies seeking to hone their business skills – and apply them in the non-profit arena – are invited to apply for a scholarship to the Executive MBA program at the University of South Florida in Tampa. This scholarship is valued at $22,500 (total fees for the 21-month program are $45,000). Classes begin August 2, 2013.

Applicants must:

  • have at least five years managerial experience
  • have a proven record of commitment with a Tampa Bay 501 (c)(3) non-profit agency
  • commit to at least three additional years of service to a local not-for-profit upon graduation.
  • have an undergraduate degree from an accredited institution
  • have a GMAT score of 500 or higher. All scholarship applicants must take the GMAT exam – it may not be waived
  • Current salary < $100,000

This scholarship is not limited to those with a business degree. Applicants who hold degrees in other fields, such as juvenile justice, psychology, social work, or education are eligible to apply.

This is the thirteenth year USF has offered this scholarship. Past recipients include executives from the United Way, Metropolitan Ministries, Gulfside Regional Hospice, MacDonald Training Center, Big Brothers/Big Sisters and Hillsborough County Aging Services.

The deadline to apply for the scholarship is June 1; applicants are strongly encouraged to apply early.

The remaining $22,500 in fees (+ mandated tuition increases) will be pro-rated and payable at the beginning of each of the four semesters of the program. Applicants may apply for financial aid through the USF Office of Financial Aid to help defray these expenses.

Applications must include completed Executive MBA Program Preliminary Application form (mark on the top of the form that you are applying for the Not-for-Profit Scholarship), 2 recommendation forms, a statement of support from your current employer, university transcripts and a current resume.
