Alumni Spotlight - Sinan Gurman

MBA ('03)

At the age of seven, Sinan Gurman was selling sea shells on the Mediterranean Coast of Turkey. Now, at the age of 32, the USF MBA graduate ('03) is working for one of the world's leading business and IT consulting and outsourcing firms. As a senior principal consultant in the Knowledge Services Business Unit at Infosys, Gurman helps high-level executives in some of the world's largest companies improve their sales and marketing effectiveness and efficiencies.

"I get a lot of joy from working with the world's largest companies and trying to solve their most difficult challenges through creative business strategies, execution processes, analytical solutions, and innovative technologies," explained Gurman. "You have to look at the big picture when working with these companies," he added, explaining how successful executives must do more than simply craft strategy. "Strategy, without knowing how it will be executed, is useless," he said. "I get to do both, and I love that."

A native of Turkey, Gurman earned a physics degree from Middle East Technical University. He chose to pursue an MBA at USF after meeting with a USF alumnus who was president of METU at the time.

"Earning an MBA at USF has significantly helped my career," Gurman said. "I now know how each function of a business works, and I am able to use this experience to design and implement end-to-end business solutions for the world's largest companies."
