Vita

Chris Brown is an associate professor of instruction in the Vinik Sport & Entertainment Management program in the Muma College of Business. He teaches undergraduate and graduate level sport, entertainment and hospitality courses.

His research interests include sports tourism, fan loyalty, sport and recreation internship policies and practices, and pedagogical practices within sport and recreation programs. He has published in leading journals within the field including the Journal of Hospitality & Tourism Education, the Journal of Hospitality, Leisure, Sport & Tourism Education, UNLV's Gaming Research and Review Journal, SCHOLE: A Journal of Leisure Studies and Recreation Education, and Sport, Business, Management: An International Journal.

Before joining the VSEM program, Brown was an associate professor in the Department of Human Performance and Sport at Metropolitan State University of Denver. Prior to that, he was an associate professor in the Department of Exercise Science and Sport Management at Kennesaw State University. Before joining KSU, he was an instructor in the Recreation and Sport Management program at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, the assistant director of the PGA Golf Management program, as well as the internship coordinator for both the Recreation and Sport Management program and the PGA Golf Management program.  

He has been actively involved in professional organizations such as the North American Society for Sport Management and the National Recreation and Park Association, where he contributes his expertise and stays abreast of industry trends.

He earned a PhD in higher education administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where his dissertation focused on predicting expenditure patterns for active sport tourists. He earned a master's degree in education with a concentration in recreation administration and a bachelor's degree in education with a focus on recreation and leisure studies, both from the University of Georgia.
