Title: Assistant Professor of Instruction |
Dr. Ana Aluisy is an Assistant Professor of Instruction in the Department of Behavioral Health Science & Practice at the University of South Florida. She teaches courses in the Behavioral Health Science & Practice Behavioral Healthcare Major. She received her Bachelor’s in Psychology from Campbell University in North Carolina while serving on active duty in the Marine Corps. Dr. Aluisy completed a Master’s in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling, a Graduate Certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy, and a PhD in Behavioral and Community Sciences from the University of South Florida.
Dr. Aluisy is a bilingual Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Marriage and Family Therapist, and a Qualified Supervisor in Florida. She is also a Certified Forensic Mental Health Counselor Evaluator. She served as the President of the Suncoast Mental Health Counselors Association (SMHCA). Dr. Aluisy has 19 years of experience in the behavioral health field. Her clinical experience includes providing mental health services in both non-profit community mental health agencies and private practice in the Tampa Bay area, focusing on underserved populations. She was a Visiting Professor of Instruction in the Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling Program in the Department of Child & Family Studies at USF before joining BHSP. Dr. Aluisy teaches courses on legal and ethical issues, cultural influences in health and behavioral health, as well as mental health and addictive disorders.
Dr. Aluisy’s research interests include stigma and mental health access and utilization for underserved populations.
