Student Experiences

The ARCT Lab is home to many students. The Lab provides observation, volunteer, and paid work experience for students from different backgrounds. Listed below are words from current and past students about how working the Lab has helped them. To learn more about joining the ARCT Lab as a student, see Get Involved!

Position: Clinical Research Associate
Experience: I have had a wonderful experience working in the ARCT Lab. I started out as an undergraduate student helping a couple of times per week, and I ended up finding my career path. I have learned many things about different kinds of research studies. It has truly been a growing experience.

Sara Korman

Student: Sara Korman
Position: Graduate Research Assistant
Experience: Working in the ARCT Lab has been a valuable experience. My favorite part of this experience is learning how to administer clinical tests that are not used in everyday clinical audiology. The tests and techniques I have learned in the lab will help to expand my clinical knowledge "toolbox" when I become an audiologist.

Position: Undergraduate Research Volunteer
Experience: My experience in the ARCT lab has provided me with invaluable knowledge and skills that I wouldn't have been able to learn elsewhere. Being a part of the team and research studies has been the most amazing opportunity and experience as an undergraduate. These connections I have made in the lab will help me advance in my future career as an audiologist. Overall, the lab has strengthened my deep passion for audiology and without the lab, I would not have found a new passion in research.

Position: Graduate Research Assistant
Experience: Working in the ARCT lab has been a wonderful and rewarding experience. It has allowed for me to expand my knowledge on research and current clinical procedures. Working in the ARCT lab has provided invaluable hands on experience and has helped me grow not only as a graduate clinician, but as a future audiologist.

Student: Olivia Wilder
Position: Undergraduate Research Volunteer
Experience: My time in the ARCT lab has been a learning experience that is both invaluable and enjoyable. Just being present in the lab, being able to observe what goes on with the staff and patients is a chance to gain insight I never would have otherwise. In addition, learning inside a clinic rather than a classroom is highly enlightening, and provides a more hands-on approach more easily applicable to what I hope to be a future in audiology. I am very grateful for the opportunity to participate in the lab, and to the wonderful people involved.
