Pilot Study to Evaluate the Long-term Chronic Care of Patients who could or do utilize an Osseointegrated Device (OID)

Eligibility: Participants must be 18-85 years old with a hearing loss that could benefit from OID hearing intervention.  

Goal: To evaluate the cognitive, hearing, quality of life, and communication effects of OID hearing intervention among patients who could vs. do utilize an OID.

Study Overview: Researchers at the Auditory Rehabilitation and Clinical Trials Laboratory (ARCT Lab) within the Department of Otolaryngology are conducting a research study to evaluate hearing, cognitive, and quality of life outcomes of patients who are recommended for an Osseointegrated Device (OID) hearing intervention. The researchers are seeking participants 18-85 years of age with a hearing loss that could benefit from OID hearing internveiton. The study will take place over 36 months, and participants will be asked to complete one screening visit and up to 11 study visits. Qualified candidates will be compensated for their participation in the study, and there will be no cost to the participant or the participant’s insurance company.
