Addressing COVID-19 needs for primary care patients and professionals who work with them

We obtained additional funding from PCORI to expand our work, so that, when we conduct research in the future, we will be responsive to the ways in which the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted primary care patients and the professionals who work with them. The COVID-19 pandemic has created many stressors and new traumatic events for patients and professionals; at the same time, we have seen the potential for telehealth and “e-health” (the use of technology to support health and well-being) to improve how we care for patients.

Our partners developed two research questions:

  1. What kinds of difficult experiences and stressors related to COVID-19 are primary care patients and professionals experiencing?
  2. How can telehealth be used to help us better reach and support primary care patients who experience COVID-related or other trauma and the professionals who work with them?

Working with our network advocates and their organizations, we are asking primary care patients, primary care professionals, and behavioral health professionals to complete 3 anonymous online surveys.
