Caitlin Adcock

is a recent graduate with her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at the University of South Florida. She started college as a psychology major at 16 in a dual enrollment program at her community college in her home town of Ocala, Fl. There, she graduated with her A.A. in Psychology a year after graduating high school; she was president of the Psychology club and part of the honors program for scholars. She plans to attend Grad School at the University of South Florida as a student of the Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling program in the fall of 2021. Throughout her education, Caitlin has discovered that she wants to combine two of her passions and apply them to the field of mental health: Dance and Psychology. Her goal is to become a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with a concentration in alternative therapies such as dance therapy, music therapy, art therapy.

One of Caitlin’s current research interests are analyzing how stigma effects those with addiction, alcoholism and substance abuse disorders. Through her research, she hopes to reduce various types of stigma surrounding these conditions in order to create a better atmosphere of opportunity for individuals living with addictions. Caitlin is also passionate about research involving contact-based stigma reduction strategies, such as This Is My Brave, and views these programs as essential in order to decrease various forms of stigma surrounding those with multiple forms of lived experience.
