RESEARCH INTERESTS
Dr. Moreno’s research is centered on Cyber-Physical Systems, where advances in Communications, Semiconductors, and Automation & Controls converge to address industrial and societal needs. His work spans Digital Signal Processing, Energy, Nano/Micro-electronics, Medical Engineering, and multimedia approaches to engineering education. With a strong emphasis on Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), he integrates interdisciplinary applications to foster innovation. Dr. Moreno has authored over 130 publications and supervised more than ninety graduate students, advancing knowledge and practice in engineering.
BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Wilfrido A. Moreno received his B.S., M.S.E.E., and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of South Florida (1983, 1985, 1993). He joined USF’s Electrical Engineering Department in 1984, advancing from Teaching/Research Assistant to Professor (2008–present). His prior roles include consultant with Boeing–SAIC and Leidos, VP of Strategic Planning, and Director of R&D (2002–2022) for ISTEC. Dr. Moreno’s career integrates teaching, research, and leadership in engineering, fostering broad international collaborations.
