Faculty Governance: At USF and Beyond

Faculty Governance

The USF Faculty Senate is the main avenue of faculty governance at the institution as the USF Faculty Senate is the primary faculty advisory body to the University of South Florida  President, Provost, and Vice President for Health on all matters that pertain to the academic climate of the university. Beyond serving as an institutional advisory body, the USF Faculty Senate also provides a means for fauculty participation at the state level through membership on the Advisory Council of Faculty Senates (ACFS).

The fundamental purpose of the ACFS is to work toward better and higher quality educational opportunities in the system of public four-year colleges and universities overseen by the Board of Governors in the State of Florida. It shall serve as a mechanism to discuss issues of importance to higher education in Florida and provide input from a faculty perspective.

For the 2021-2022 Academic Year, USF has three representatives on the ACFS:

  • USF Faculty President, Dr. Timothy Boaz
  • USF Faculty Senate Vice President, Dr. Jenifer Jasinski Schneider
  • USF Past President, Dr. Deanna Michael (Serving as ACFS Vice Chair)
