Student projects take center stage at summer research symposium; alumna’s gift creates endowment for undergraduate research
COPH alumna Alondra Velez developed a reminder and tracking system at USF’s BRIDGE Healthcare Clinic that helped more than 90% of referred patients complete colorectal screening. She is turning her findings into a research manuscript and will begin a master’s program in medical sciences at USF this fall.

Leading by example: Dr. Jeremy Corrigan's journey to national recognition
Growing up in Tok, Alaska, a town of fewer than 1,000 people, Dr. Jeremy Corrigan never imagined his path would lead him to national recognition as a public health leader. Today, the USF College of Public Health (COPH) alumnus serves as laboratory director for the San Diego County Public Health Laboratory and is the recipient of the Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL) LEAD Award, honoring his leadership, advocacy and commitment to strengthening the public health workforce.

Public health student stresses need to improve lactation room access across USF campus
Let’s say you’re a young mother attending classes at USF and your newborn is hungry. Where do you go to breastfeed or pump? A student researcher at the COPH hopes to make the choice more convenient by increasing the number of campus lactation stations and enhancing their access and quality.
