Faculty Champions
Usf faculty champions- critical thinking in the age of ai. Extending learning, not replacing it
The Faculty Champions Webinar Series
Each semester the USF Faculty Champions Webinar Series brings together faculty from across the university to share how they’re using AI in their teaching and learning, including successful teaching strategies, real-world experiences, and innovative approaches to common learning challenges. USF Innovative Education provides this opportunity for faculty to learn from their colleagues and discover practical ideas they can apply to their own courses.
Addressing Challenges and Accelerating Opportunities
Get inspired by how faculty across USF are approaching AI in ways that support student success, improve efficiency, and strengthen the learning experience.
The USF Faculty Champion Webinar Series Focuses on:
- Handle student use of AI more consistently and confidently.
- Create assignments that encourage critical thinking in an AI-enabled world.
- Reduce time spent on routine course-development and administrative tasks.
- Evaluate which AI tools are worth your attention and which are not.
- Address concerns about academic integrity without creating additional workload.
- Prepare students for a workforce where AI literacy is becoming increasingly important.

CRITICAL THINKING IN THE AGE OF AI:
Extending Learning Not Replacing It
How do we prepare students to think critically and exercise good judgment when AI is always available? Join us online November 4, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. ET, for the next USF Faculty Champions webinar as Dr. Karni Chagal-Feferkorn, Dr. Jocilyn Martinez, and Dr. Christie Nicholas explore how faculty can guide students toward responsible and meaningful AI use. Discover strategies for encouraging students to question AI-generated content, verify information, and make informed decisions, along with valuable InEd resources you can incorporate into your own courses.

During the Event, Faculty Will:
- Explore privacy, accuracy, accountability, risk, and professional judgment when using AI.
- Consider questions students should ask before relying on AI-generated information.
- See a USF course example where students use AI while remaining responsible for research, verification, reflection, and decision-making.
- Identify ways to scaffold AI use so faculty can see students' thinking throughout an assignment.
- Leave with a framework and student-facing resource they can bring back to their own courses.
