pre-college summer 2021

USF Pre-College offers online opportunities for high school students to engage with USF faculty in an academic field of their interest, while also gaining USF credit. Students will participate in online courses with synchronous instruction directly with USF faculty and other participants.

All USF Pre-College online programs will be four weeks in length, beginning on Monday, July 12 and running through Friday, August 6. Classes will be partially synchronous, meaning that there will be real-time virtual lectures and discussions in which students will participate in. The schedule of these virtual meetings will vary by program and will be provided by the start of the program so that students can plan accordingly. All meeting times will be based in Eastern Standard Time (EST) and within the window of 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

All USF Pre-College participants will be introduced to current USF students who will serve as mentors to assist students with their transition to college-level coursework. The mentors are available to provide insight towards aspects of the college transition that students may struggle with when entering a college environment, including: study tactics, time management, social interactions, engaging with campus, accessing resources and self-care.
