Great American Teach In

The Great American Teach-In connects USF employees with local K-12 classrooms, giving them the chance to share careers, lead lessons, or inspire students through one-hour visits.

The Great American Teach-In (GATI) invites USF faculty and staff to engage with K-12 students by sharing their careers, reading stories, or leading classroom activities. This program strengthens community ties, inspires students, and raises awareness of opportunities at USF. Teachers and schools can request visits, and employees can volunteer to make a meaningful impact in just one hour.

How it Works

USF Employees

  1. Sign Up: USF employees who wish to participate can sign up by Friday, October 9th, 2026, via the USF Employees GATI Interest Survey (If your college or department is already participating, please take a moment to complete the survey. Your input helps us capture the full extent of USF's involvement).
  2. Share Your Expertise: Fill out the survey to share your expertise, availability, and preferences.
  3. Matching Process: Our team will match you with a school based on your profile and preferences.
  4. Confirmation: You will receive an email by Friday, November 6th, 2026, confirming your match and providing details about the school and event.

K-12 Educators

  1. Sign Up: Interested K-12 educators in the participating districts can sign up by Friday, October 9th, 2026, to request a USF presenter via the K-12 Educator GATI Interest Survey.
  2. Select Your Preferences: Provide details about your school's needs and preferences in the survey to help us match you with the right USF presenter.
  3. Confirmation: Once matched, you will receive a confirmation email by Friday, November 6th, 2026, with details about your USF presenter.

    During this week, we work to pair USF employees with K-12 classrooms, ensuring each speaker is matched to a school and prepared for their Great American Teach-In visit.

  • Final Confirmation Email

    November 6th, 2026

    By Friday, November 6, you will receive communication from our office regarding the status of your Great American Teach-In participation.

  • Pasco and Pinellas Great American Teach-In

    November, 18th, 2026

    USF employees head to their designated schools to share with students in Pasco and Pinellas County.

  • Hillsborough Great American Teach In

    November 19th, 2026

    USF employees head to their respective school locations to present to the students in Hillsborough County.
