Technology Tip: Box Search and Collections

USF Information Technology recently launched a new regular series called “Tech Tips and Tricks” to provide students, faculty and staff with helpful tips about using features in the technology tools we have at USF. This series supports the focus outlined in our 2023-2028 IT Strategic Plan to “Make IT Easy” for our clients.

These tips will cover a wide range of topics, from basic features to advanced techniques in different software programs, along with important information related to digital security and identity protection. View all of our current tips here and please follow us on Instagram and Threads @usfinfotech.

Chek out our technology tip for this week: Box Search and Collections!

If your Box workspace is quite robust, consider using the search and collections features to make your file storage and access easier!

The Box search bar helps you find shared files across your organization using various search filters such as file type, date of last update, or file owner. This tool is incredibly useful when you can’t recall the name or owner of a file - simply apply a different filter to assist in locating what you need.

Box Collections allow you to neatly organize and quickly access files and folders tailored to your workflow. They let you group related content however you'd like, regardless of their original location in your Box account. Collections are private to you, so you can organize your files in a way that makes sense for your workflow, while your collaborators still have access to the shared files in their original shared folders and locations.
